personal trainer kristy wilson1. What made you start as a personal trainer?
I became a personal trainer because I have a huge passion for fitness. I have been an elite athlete since I was 8 years old. I was a nationally ranked Australian Gymnast and 3-time Australian Power Tumbling Champion. I have been performing with the world renowned Cirque du Soleil in the Orlando based production ‘La Nouba’ since 2001. Throughout my career I have been coached by some of the best coaches in the world and love sharing my knowledge and own personal experiences with my clients.

2. Where do you train and how long have you been Personal Training?
I train at a Balanced Body Studio in Maitland, FL. I also work with my fellow performers at Cirque du Soleil here in Orlando, FL. I have been a personal Trainer since 2005. Previously I was a nationally recognized gymnastics and trampoline coach in Australia.

3. What certifications do you have and do you have any specialty training or sports specific training?
My certifications include:
American College of Sports Medicine – Certified Personal Trainer
National Academy of Sports Medicine – Certified Personal Trainer
National Academy of Sports Medicine - Performance Enhancement Specialist
National Academy of Sports Medicine – Corrective Exercise Specialist
National Strength and Conditioning Association – Certified Personal Trainer
International Youth Conditioning Association – Youth Fitness Specialist

I specialize in weight loss, core conditioning, and athletic performance enhancement.

4. How does twitter work for you in promoting your personal training services?
I love twitter! Although I do have to admit that facebook has worked much better for me when it comes to networking. I use my twitter page to post links to interesting articles I find, or write myself. I’ll post links to my youtube videos, and a lot of motivational quotes on my twitter page. 5. What is the best thing about being a personal trainer?

For me the best thing about being a personal is being able to educate, motivate, and help people achieve their fitness goals. There is no better feeling than the feeling of having helped someone achieve their goals.

6. What can a client expect from one of your personal training sessions?

Each of my personal training sessions are specially customized to meet the clients health and fitness goals. All exercises are fully explained and demonstrated to ensure that the client understands them. Performance feedback is given when the client performs the exercises which helps to re-enforce proper technique.

My personal training sessions are geared not only towards training the client, but also educating the client about health and fitness. My personal training sessions are fun, but tough. I do not accept any excuses.

7. If I am a new client of yours, how long will it take me to see and feel results?

You may feel results right away, but generally you will not see results for at least 4-6 weeks.

8. What is one of the best excuses that you have heard from a personal training client?
The best excuse I have heard from a client not showing up was that they forgot to pay the electrical bill so they had no electricity in the house and the alarm clock did not go off. This client’s session was scheduled for 2pm!!

9. Do you have a fitness person that you look up to or has inspired you?
I am inspired by Michael Seril. He has done so much for his community and I am lucky enough to be on the Board of Advisors for his Excellence Through Exercise Foundation which is a foundation dedicated toward fighting childhood obesity. He has such a passion for helping people and I think people in the fitness industry need to follow his example. He truly cares about the people he comes in contact with.

10. When do you think a client no longer needs a personal trainer?
I think that when a client has become educated enough to know how to create their own programs based on the goals they have set for themselves, and are motivated enough to go and do it on their own … then that client no longer needs a personal trainer.
